What is Multiply?
What is Multiply?
Multiply is a programme of fully funded Maths courses, which aim to help people improve their ability to understand and use Maths in daily life, at home and at work. The programme is running up to the end of March 2025.
Multiply aims to provide fun activities to help people achieve their potential and build their confidence in using Maths. This is to assist people to get into work and to progress in their careers, to assist parents with understanding how Maths is taught in the classroom, and helping people deal with using Maths in everyday life. Our courses are designed to help learners to see a rapid improvement in their Maths abilities with an emphasis on having fun and working with others. Courses can range from a one-off activity to a fully structured programme. Once learners have completed a structured course, they can progress onto an accredited course to gain a qualification.
Take a look at our interactive map to find out what courses are happening in your area. The map will be updated on a regular basis to show new courses as they become available.
Courses in your areaWhy is Maths important?
Numeracy is a universal language that helps us to understand the world around us. As well as helping us to understand patterns, shapes and numbers, it also provides us with important skills for work, further study and day-to-day life. We want to help people improve their ability to understand and use Maths in daily life, home and work. Whether that be improving household finances, helping children with homework, or improving numeracy skills specific to a line of work. To achieve that, Multiply will offer a range of courses that fit around people's lives and are tailored to specific needs, circumstances, sectors and industries.
Improved numeracy also matters to businesses. Businesses that develop employees' numeracy skills can boost productivity, increase profits and improve employee retention.
How is Multiply provided?
Multiply is provided through classroom-based courses and online programmes. Groups are relatively small to ensure learners receive the support they need. Where there is a particular requirement, it may also be possible to provide one-to-one support. (If you require this, please speak to your chosen course provider). All structured Maths courses will be taught by qualified Maths tutors. Kent County Council will be working with a wide range of delivery partners to ensure a diverse range of courses and styles of delivery will be provided across the whole of the county.
Multiply is a national programme and forms part of the Government's Shared Prosperity Fund. For further details please visit:
