Everyday Maths for your Party
'Everyday Maths for your Party' was our first taster session under the Multiply project. The lesson was designed to engage learners with maths through real life application. It was advertised as a practical and fun, Everyday Maths taster session, with the bonus of a tasty treat to take home.
Learners used weight, capacity and ratio to make sweets and mocktails. In the process they explored how differing ratios produced varying results. They enjoyed experimenting to discover how maths affected results in their sweet and drink creations. Learners really engaged with the maths and showed clear progress throughout the session. It was a successful afternoon where barriers were broken, and confidence built. All are now signing up to study entry level Maths with us!
